Teeth whitening, I must admit, is a pure case of vanity. It has no special benefit to the state of your teeth, in fact, it may cause it to be sensitive.

Despite this fact, millions of people still undergo it because they want to have a better smile and look younger, as yellow stained teeth is a sign of aging.

I’ve been waiting for a good deal online as the usual rates for laser teeth whitening is P10k and up, which I’m not willing to spend. There are several cheap deals too that go as low as P1500 but I’m scared it might just do more harm than good.

So when Deal Grocer had a promo with Affinity Dental that costs P6250 from the original price tag of P15,000, I took the bait.

Affinity Dental’s Laser Teeth Whitening Treatment using Affinity White supposedly whitens teeth in as little as 30 minutes. It is applied by a licensed dentist, which is of primary importance to me, as I know a professional will be there to oversee the procedure.

I went to Affinity’s Makati branch to avail of the service. The clinic is new, clean and chic.

They made me wait for a while before they were able to start the procedure. I waited for 30-40 minutes which got me a bit impatient but it was alright soon after meeting the warm dentist and her friendly assistant.
Dr. Joan Villanueva asked me to sign a waiver and informed me of possible results. There is a possibility that your teeth will not whiten at all, and another possibility that your teeth will become too sensitive during the procedure that you might not want to continue it anymore.

If I heard those risks before paying, I might not have gone through with it, LOL. But I was in the clinic already so I just hoped everything will be alright.

There was first the cleaning and preps. Afterwards a bleaching paste was applied. Next was a ten-minute session of laser light focused on my teeth. Then my teeth rested for a few minutes, before this whole thing had to be repeated the second time. That’s a total of 30 minutes.

Thank God there was very minimal sensitivity so I was able to endure the whole procedure.

It lightened maybe just one to two shades but I’m fine with that. I like that my teeth is not too white that it looks fake. It just looks cleaner. =)

My teeth was sensitive for the next 24 hours after the session. I woke up thrice during sleep because of the sensitivity. However, it was still manageable.

I’ve been advised to stay away from coffee, tea and soda, which I have obediently followed because I don’t want to let all that effort go to waste. It’s been two weeks since that day and here is an updated photo of my teeth.

So far, so good. =)
